Dr. Anantha Krishnan is a Program Manager in the Defense Sciences Office of DARPA. He is responsible for managing programs relating to multi-disciplinary, mixed technology integration in engineering systems with a strong emphasis on nano-bio-technology, bio-molecular devices/systems and biotic-abiotic interface technologies. SIMBIOSYS addresses the integration of bio-molecular phenomena with MEMS and microfluidic technologies. The Bio-Molecular Motors (BMM) program aims at exploiting biological and bio-mimetic motors for nanoscale energy conversion, power supply and transduction of molecular signals. The MOLDICE program focuses on the direct conversion of nanoscale bio-molecular signals to electronic information. Additionally, Dr. Krishnan also manages
programs in the Microsystem Technology Office of DARPA that focus on design ethodologies and tools for high performance mixed signal electronics, 3-dimensional integration of circuits and radiation hardening of electronic systems.

From 1989 to 1999, Dr. Krishnan held various positions, including Vice-President for Advanced Technology, at Computational Fluid Dynamics Research Corporation (CFDRC) where he managed several projects in the areas of semiconductor processing technology, MEMS/bio-MEMS, integrated electronics, supercritical fluid technology, crystal growth and aerospace/rocket propulsion. His technical areas of expertise include fluid/plasma transport, heat/mass transfer and chemistry in chemical and biological systems. His work has specifically focused on multidisciplinary interactions between fluidic, thermal, chemical, biological, structural and electromagnetic phenomena in complex engineering systems.

Dr. Krishnan obtained his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1989. He has more than 50 publications in international journals and conferences.
